Jasper

Jasper took his final walk across Rainbow Bridge in the afternoon of 18th October.

He came into our family as a two year old in 2009, and settled in quickly with his new Mum and Dad, Matthew, Jack and Brucie the cat.  Jasper loved to run free and his favourite pastime was to chase squirrels in the park.  He would then sit patiently at the bottom of the trees in the hope that one would come down (but they never did). He also loved Formby beach, where he would charge up and down the sand dunes, and finish off with a dip in the sea.

Jasper loved to spend time with his Nanny and Grandedad.  They would go for holidays in their caravan and enjoyed eating out in doggie friendly cafe’s in the Lake District. He was also an unofficial PAT dog, as he used to visit the nursing home to see his Paterrnal Grandad, and mix with the residents.  Jasper loved people, and people loved him.  He brought sunshine into the lives of everyone he met.

During his life Jasper had more that his fair share of surgery, but he always bounced back and took everything in his stride.  Unfortunately age was starting to catch up with him, and he suffered from arthritis.  This did not deter him from his daily walks, but they were on a much shorter scale.  He appeared to recover from his latest surgery, but a few weeks later the signs told us that all was not well.  So it was that on that sad afternoon, the difficult decision was made to let him go.

As a family, we are devastated.  There will never be another Jasper.  He loved life, and most of all he loved his family.  We are so grateful to NWESSR for giving us the opportunity to spend 9 happy years with him.

He is now in that Doggie Heaven where he can run free with no pain.
